ABOUT THE OJBLL

The Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League (OJBLL) is a junior men’s box lacrosse league in Ontario. Sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) and Lacrosse Canada (LC), the Ontario Champion is annually awarded the J. A. MacDonald Trophy and moves on to compete against teams across Canada for the Founders Cup, the National Junior B Lacrosse Championship of Canada.

The OJBLL has a storied past that dates back to before its formal establishment in 1964. Prior to this, from 1938 to 1963, teams that didn't make the playoffs in the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League (OJLL) would compete for the OLA Junior B Championship.

In 1964, the landscape of Junior B lacrosse in Ontario underwent a significant change with the official formation of the OJBLL by the OLA. This marked the beginning of a dedicated and structured league for Junior B competition, elevating the level of competition and organization within the sport. The same year also saw the introduction of the Castrol Cup, a national trophy contested by Junior B teams across Canada. In 1972, the Founders Cup was introduced, replacing the Castrol Cup as the symbol of Junior B lacrosse supremacy in Canada. This trophy continues to be a coveted prize that represents the pinnacle of success in the OJBLL. Ontario has captured the Founders Cup fifty times since 1967.
