FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JANUARY 13, 2026 — The Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League (OJBLL) announced today that Bram Cotton has been appointed as the league’s next Commissioner, effective January 1, following an extensive search led by the league’s Board of Governors.

Cotton brings more than 18 years of experience across provincial, national, international, and professional sport, with expertise spanning governance, financial management, marketing, sponsorship, communications, and event management.

The appointment was announced by Brian Welsh, Chair of the Commissioner Search Committee and Chair of the OJBLL Board of Governors.

“On behalf of the Board of Governors, it is my pleasure to welcome Bram Cotton to the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League,” said Welsh. “Throughout this process, we were focused on identifying a leader who could build on the league’s strong foundation while guiding it forward. The Search Committee was unanimous in its confidence that Bram has the vision, experience, and leadership qualities to do just that.”

Cotton expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to lead the league.

“It is an honour to be named Commissioner of the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League, and I am thrilled to be joining such a historic and respected league,” said Cotton. “I am excited to build upon the legacy established by the previous Commissioner and grateful to the Board of Governors for their trust. I look forward to working closely with our member teams, league partners, and the broader OJBLL community — including players, alumni, and fans — as we continue to grow the game across Ontario.”

Cotton’s appointment signals the OJBLL’s continued commitment to strong governance, operational excellence, and long-term growth. With extensive experience across multiple levels of sport, Cotton brings a strategic, partner-focused approach that aligns league operations with the evolving needs of member franchises, sponsors, and community partners. His leadership will support enhanced league standards, sustainable business practices, and meaningful opportunities for partners to engage with one of Canada’s most established and successful junior lacrosse leagues.

A graduate of Bishop’s University, Cotton holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). He also earned a Bachelor of Sport Management (BSM) from Brock University and is currently completing a Master of Science in Sport Management at Niagara University. Cotton resides in the Niagara Region with his wife and three children.
